Stingfree was invented by Bengt Wiberg after his dentist urged him to stop snus because Bengt had suffered snus-related damage to his gums. Bengt then tried putting band-aid on the gum side of the pouches and discovered that the pain in the gums disappeared while the taste and nicotine experience remained.
